Once I readed the article I learnt about ESP that the point of view of teaching ESP today is far different than one in the 1960s. Because to teach ESP isn´t only teach the technical vocabulary of a profession as well to teach subtechnical vocabulary, the skills needed to derive meaning from it such as skimming for gist and recognizing text cohesion and passive voice construccions.
The difference between the ESP and GE approach according to Hutchinson is in theory nothing, in practice a great deal. It´s very important in ESP needs anylisis and prepare own materials. I read another article from Faculty of Engineering Okayama University and said it that ESP was simple as an approach to teaching, like the similar conclusion made by Hutchinson who said" ESP is an approach to language teaching in wich all decisions as to content and method are based on the learner´s reason for leraning". All this one it´s the same that say Rebeca Soak in her article when she say that ESP is English instruction based on actual and immediate needs of learners who have to successfully perform real life tasks unrelated to merely passing a English class or exam.
On the other hand, I learnt this acronyms:
ESOL, I´ve seen it like ESOL examinations. the meaning is English for speakers of other languages. ATLL, Adult T-cell leukemia . HTLV, Human T-cell leukemia.
And finally the more common language skills taught in ESP could be speak, translate...
